Christian Jankowski
New York based artist, Christian Jankowski was born in 1968 in Gottingen, Germany. Schooled at the Academy of Fine Arts, Hamburg, Jankowski gained international recognition in the 48th Venice Biennale curated by Harald Szeemann in 1999. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions throughout Europe, the US and Asia, including recently at List Center for the Arts, MIT, Cambridge, MA (2005); Museum fuer Gegenwartskunst, Basel, Switzerland (2003); Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, Rome, Italy (2003); Art Sonje Center, Seoul, Korea (2003); De Appel, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2000); Regen Projects, Los Angeles (2005); Galerie Klosterfelde, Berlin (2004), Maccarone Inc., New York (2004); Lisson Gallery, London (2003). Group exhibitions include 2002 Biennial, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Busan Biennial 2002, Korea; 2001 Berlin Biennale, Germany; 1997 Biennale de Lyon, France. His work has been featured and reviewed in publications such as Artforum, The New York Times, Frieze, Art News, Art in America, Text zur Kunst. A monograph was recently published by the Des Moines Art Center.
