Kristin Lucas is a multidisciplinary artist working with video, installation, performance, and interactive media. Her improvisational video monologues are informed by an on-going interest in mediated communication, evolutionary mutation, compliance and compatibility. Using herself as a test subject, Lucas communicates the psychological effects of rapid spread technology and the omnipresence of control architecture with a humorous deadpan delivery. Her work oscillates between 'being' out of control, being 'out'-side of control, and being 'out of control'. Several of Lucas's short video works, including Involuntary Reception, were produced with the support of the Experimental Television Center Artist Residency Program.
